Meet Our Characters…Lauren and Dewey!

MEET LAUREN:

Lauren loves the color pink and going on bike rides with her best friend Dewey. She loves to eat pizza…yummy; but hates brussel sprouts…yuck! When she grows up, she wants to be an artist.

MEET DEWEY:

Dewey loves the color blue and riding along in his bike basket on bike rides with his best friend Lauren. He loves to eat chicken and anything chicken-related…yummy! When he grows up, he wants to be an artist too…just like Lauren!

Meet the Team

  • Lauren Stern, Author

    Lauren Stern is an Experiential Graphic Designer based in Charlotte, NC. She has over 10 years of experience turning abstract ideas into engaging visuals for immersive environments. Lauren has a strong design background and proven experience creating eye-catching graphics that pop with a “wow” factor. She has extensive experience designing wayfinding elements for small storefronts to million-square ft. facilities, from concept through implementation.

    Lauren has written stories and poems ever since she was a little girl. It has been a dream come true to combine her love of storytelling and the importance of signage and wayfinding into a children’s book. She hopes this book helps young (and old) readers gain an appreciation for the field of signage and wayfinding and inspires the next generation of designers.

    Since June 2021, Lauren has been the Owner and Principal Consultant of her own boutique Experiential Graphic Design consultancy, Studio 618. Studio 618 is a registered LLC in North Carolina and works on projects ranging in size and scope all over the country.

    Studio 618’s clients include: Commercial and residential developers; design firms; marketing agencies; neighborhood associations; signage fabrication companies; small businesses; and transportation consultants.

  • James Bevelander, Illustrator

    James is an illustrator and animator based out of Melbourne, Australia.

    When he’s not running around after his two children, he can be found behind a pencil or monitor following his lifelong obsession of creating character based artwork. Examples of his work and musing can be found on Linkedin and Instagram @JamesBevelander.

  • Dewey, Creative Spirit

    Dewey is an asset to Studio 618 and is the inspiration for the dog character in this book.

    He is so excited to be a part of this book and hopes you have fun learning all about the importance of signage and wayfinding.
